In partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), EPI is helping deliver the NL Nature Atlas – an interactive web mapping site that allows users to explore Labrador’s natural environment as they are able to do in Google Maps and Google Earth. Initial maps and data stem from NCC’s work on the Labrador Conservation Blueprint, a collaborative effort to identify areas of high conservation value throughout the enormous geographic regions of Labrador.
Once it goes live, the NL Nature Atlas website will serve as a gateway for geospatial information about the province’s environment, as individual users and interested groups and organizations will be able to submit relevant maps and data for upload.
Join us as guest speakers share their experiences with Labrador nature while taking you on a live geo-tour using the NL Nature Atlas. You will also have the opportunity to win prizes by taking our interactive trivia challenge. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
**Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Public Launch of the NL Nature Atlas Public has been postponed to an as yet undetermined date. Please keep checking back for further updates.**
In the meantime, you can learn more about the work that’s been done on the project to date by checking out this blog article written by Lindsay Notzl, NCC’s Manager of Northern Conservation Planning.
