Brennan Lowery, an EPI affiliated Interdisciplinary Ph.D. candidate at Memorial University, recently published a paper outlining a new approach to combining sustainability indicators and storytelling in rural communities. Co-authored with Rural Resilience lead Kelly Vodden, as well as J. Dagevos and R. Chuenpagdee, the article was published in the international journal Sustainable Development. While often seen as contradictory, this article shows that storytelling and indicator-based approaches can be brought together through a transdisciplinary lens to encourage sustainable rural development in NL and elsewhere.
