Current Research Opportunities
I am looking for a graduate student interested in rural-urban social networks for MA in Environmental Policy (MAEP) program, Memorial University, for a September 2020 start.
The student will be working on a recently funded project that examines rural-urban public space activism in Canada and France, and includes qualitative research with farmers who have occupied city-centre public spaces with tractors and farm animals to protest international trade agreement, and the pro-pipeline truck conveys which rolled across rural Canada to gridlock Ottawa in 2019.
The potential MA student should:
- have a background in geography, environmental studies, or a related discipline;
- excellent academic research, writing, and communication skills;
- an interest in cultural geography, rural studies, and social justice;
- experience with qualitative research methods and a strong academic background.
Start date: September 2020
Funding: A stipend of $17,500/year for two years, and an additional $2,500 in travel and research funding over the duration of the degree.
Location: Students will be based at the Environmental Policy Institute (EPI), Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, which is located in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
