Graduate student, Banjo Edu represents EPI at the Globe 2016 Conference

On the 1^st of March, all corporate sustainability roads led to Vancouver. As a member of the Atlantic Canada Delegation, Banjo Edu, a graduate student enrolled in the MAEP program at Memorial University, represented the Environmental Policy Institute at the Globe 2016 Conference on Sustainability and Innovation. The event was held from the 1^st to the 5^th of March 2016.

As a graduate student with a research interest in corporate sustainability, the conference availed Banjo an opportunity to listen, first hand to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau speak on his administration’s policies for sustainable practices for businesses operating in Canada and Canadian businesses operating abroad.

During the various conference sessions, he was also able to discuss his research ideas with CSR officials like Harry Verhaar of Philips Lighting, Non-governmental Organisation representatives like Helle Bank Jorgensen, Government policy analysts and environmental policy influencers from the Leading Change 2016 Delegation.  For more information on the Globe international environmental business summit see www.globeseries.com/conference/.

The Globe experience has been the crust of Banjo’s graduate student experience. Expressing his profound gratitude to the Environmental Policy Institute (EPI), Newfoundland Environmental Industry Association (NEIA) and the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, for facilitating his participation at the Conference, in closing he remarked,

The vast academic literature on CSR I have read is bolstered by the wealth of information shared at the Globe Conference on challenges and opportunities that Corporate Social Responsibility holds for sustainable business practices in the 21^st century.

Banjo will give a short presentation on the Globe 2016 conference and share some of his experiences from the event on the 4^th of April at 2pm in FC 2016. Lunch will be provided and everyone is welcome.
