Dr. Andreas Klinke published a new book chapter entitled “Cosmopolitan Governance for Sustainable Global Energy Transformation: Democratic, Participatory-Deliberative, Multilayered” in the volume ‘The Role of Public Participation in Energy Transitions’ edited by Ortwin Renn, Frank Ulmer and Anne Deckert (London, Elsevier, pp. 105-119).
Transformations from fossil energy resources towards more renewable and sustainable energy production ignite dynamics, processes and forces, which induce new challenges and problems for traditional structures because major changes in society and politics are shifting from established manners, customs and generally accepted modes of behavior to new norms and values. Governmental structures and agencies alone are not capable to handle corresponding challenges and problems and achieve eligible political outcomes that can guide and structure global energy transformations. The book chapter addresses the challenge of what kind of global governance shape can steer and navigate profound global energy transformations.
