As part of the ENVP 6001 course (Applied Environmental Problem Solving), on February 8, 2019, students engaged in a 3-hour simulation of a provincial-level cabinet meeting. Each student was assigned a ministerial portfolio and a Newfoundland and Labrador constituency to represent. For each agenda item, a few of the students would switch to playing civil service advisers, present a briefing note, and then answer questions from the cabinet ministers. This year, the simulation covered recreational marijuana, offshore oil spills, inter-governmental meetings, and electricity costs.
