May 25, 2026I’m Mya, a Master’s student in the Environmental Policy program at Memorial University. I am pursuing the research paper route, assessing the potential impacts of Newfoundland wind-to-hydrogen projects on environmental flows, with a special focus on fragmentation effects related to freshwater withdrawal and watercourse crossings. My research is supervised by Dr. Ouellet-Dallaire.
I come from an interdisciplinary background, having completed my undergraduate degree at Bishop’s University with a double major in Environmental Science and Psychology, followed by a Studio Fine Arts certificate at the Nova Scotia Collage of Art and Design.
One of my favourite topics during my undergraduate degree was permaculture; however, it was my environmental impact assessment course in my final semester that led me to consider a potential career in this field and fostered my interest in impact assessments. I aspire for my future work to contribute to the promotion and development of responsible human-environment interactions.
