The 20th Annual Aldrich Conference brought together graduate students as well as researchers from across newfoundland and Labrador to experience interdisciplinary research on a whole new level. It was a great opportunity for graduate students to engage with other researchers from a wide array of disciplines and research interest. A team of speakers from diverse backgrounds were brought together to engage with students and likewise thinkers across a range of disciplines.

The conference presented graduate students and researchers alike, the opportunity to present their work, in an interactive environment and to receive constructive feedbacks. Thereby, allowing me the opportunity to present my ongoing thesis research “Examining the impact of external governance on governance structures in the Arctic region in the wake of rapid change: A case of the Arctic Council”, for which I won the award for best poster presentation, and the cash prize that came with it.

Apart from the interdisciplinary research presentation sessions the conference hosted workshops and student engagement that are relevant and crucial in reaching our set goals., this experience as an individual, indirectly taught me how to build inclusive movements and how to organize, plan, and promote inclusive events, and the tools and tips for a successful event planning.

Special thanks to the organizers of the 2018 Aldrich, MUN, EPI and the GSU, for the opportunity given to attend.
